Our weather data for a specific location is generally based on nearby weather stations, with values interpolated between stations to provide the most representative result. The observations you see will therefore be a blend of these local stations. Where no suitable stations are available, we supplement with high-quality remote sources such as satellite and reanalysis datasets.
When selecting which nearby stations to use, we also provide options to refine the search. For example, you can filter stations by elevation so that only those at a similar altitude are considered. Details on this feature are available here: maximum elevation difference.
For mountain peaks specifically, there are often no stations located at the summit itself. In these cases, the results will reflect the best available nearby data, but may not fully capture conditions right at the peak.
