Executing a saved map directly using the web URL

Overview

This article discusses how to execute a saved map directly.

Steps

1. Ensure you have a saved map in the Visual Crossing Metadata (not container persistence store or metadata)

2. Run the map and open the about box:

mceclip0.png

3. Ensure that the map name and id (highlighted in green) are correct.

4. Copy the contents of the 'state' text box to a clipboard or text editor.

5. Create a browser URL starting of the form:

https://servername/VisualCrossingWebServices/rest/services/mapviewer/

6. Copy the map start from step 4 to the end of the service URL:

https://servername/VisualCrossingWebServices/rest/services/mapviewer/KwEwnGBsAsBMAMBDe9YFMBGYCMHgfgGY1hFgBjScgDkKIDNgB2SeYakSNepjDc4CnJEwxeoRDZETXmmrzEIFowxNo1etChg0aeNCbkp9MPEjBSiRPVz1IiME1ghYGTWkI5ITxtWnVcWGYmNBBCQiZCaGx6emogAA

7. Place this into browser URL. The map should execute. You will be prompted for credentials if security requires it and no session is available.
